Rachel

Hello Rachel! Excellent work yesterday, that was a fun lesson! Yesterday we moved on from the glamorous Guns N’ Roses to Picture Perfect by Escape The Fate. Keep working on the finger picking pattern we focused on. We did something called a “1-3-2-4-3-2” pattern, which refers to what finger/string we played. In the first section we finger-picked the unfriendly barre chords, and then in the second section we strummed the power chords. I think this song will be a lot of fun, and a great learning experience. You’ll discover new (and useful) guitar techniques while playing a beautiful song! It’ll really help you develop as a musician.

Here’s the tablature for what we worked on:

Cm BARRE CHORD

For the rest of the chords you just play the power chords but you hold down more notes with your pinky.

Here are the Barre chords for the intro:

Cm, D#, Bb, F

The power chords look almost identical!

Both parts follow the same pattern.

E|------------------------------|
B|------------------------------|
G|----5------8------3------10---|(x2)
D|----5------8------3------10---|
A|----3------6------1------8----|

Mikayla

Hi Mikayla! Your learning is going “swiftly”! Remember what we worked on yesterday? Our Song! Whenever you have time, visit your friend’s house, pick up the guitar, and play! You’ve made a lot of progress. Continue working on your chord transitions. We’ll focus on strum patterns once you have your chords mastered and you can easily change between them. The song goes: D, Em, G, A.

In case you forget the chords, here’s what they look like on paper:
